Jody Marten is a member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) and United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA). She started the Washington College Tennis Association (WCTA) and other Community Tennis Associations (CTAs). She continues to work with the development of new CTAs. She teaches tennis in after school programs and at local clubs and recreation centers. She is the Former Chair of the Committee on Sports Law of the District of Columbia Bar.
She currently provides initial incorporation services for start-up sports organizations to include:
- legal services for incorporation of small sports entities,
- professional organizational services for nonprofit athletic (tennis, etc) entities,
- preparation of Articles of Incorporation,
- preparation of Bylaws,
- preparation and follow through representation on the documents for the Internal Revenue Service for the 501 (c) (3) Tax Exempt status.
Girls and women in sports
Jody Marten has served on the Advisory Board for the Women’s Sports Foundation.and has organized National Girls and Women in Sports Day events. She serves as attorney advisor on matters relating to Title IX compliance.
She also represents international athletes seeking short tem O-1, P-1 visas or F-1 student athlete classification.
